Q I have never purchased a holiday home before where do I start?
A Before buying a holiday home you need to choose a caravan park and a pitch on which you want to site it. Kendal Caravans deal with lots of great parks and our very experienced sales staff will be pleased to help in your search.
The main selection criteria for caravan parks are its location, what facilities does the park offer and what are the annual charges. Are you looking for a "get away from it all" location on a quiet site? We recommend that its location is not too far away from home, 1 or 2 hours away maximum, as the thought of a long drive may put you off from using it. Establish what the park provides; what is the season start and end, are pets allowed, is there a shop on site, is there a club house or bar, is there entertainment, are there pubs and restaurants nearby. The answers to these and other questions you may have will influence your choice of park. If cost is your main consideration you need to look at annual charges such as ground rent, rates and services charges, e.g. gas, water and electricity. There may be other charges such as pitch development or preparation fees.
Q Once I have decided on my caravan holiday home how long will I have to wait before it is on the park and ready for me to start using it?
A This will depend on the build date and availability of the model you have chosen, and would be confirmed prior to placing of your order.
Q How long can I keep my caravan on the park I choose?
A That will depend on the terms of the park licence. Parks will offer a licence period from 10 to 15 years, though a few parks will offer longer if the caravan is properly maintained and kept in good condition.
Q Can I live in my Holiday Home ?
A In general no. Most homes sold by Kendal Caravans are designed for holiday use only. Most parks in our area only have permission for occupation for part of the year and you must have another UK address as your permanent residence.
Q What is included in the Holiday Home and what extra charges will there be?
A Prices on this website include VAT. You will need to budget an additional amount for delivery, siting and connection. This cost is dependent on the park and the model chosen.
Q Can I use my Holiday Home in the winter?
A Only if the park is open during the winter months. But do ask about the level of insulation in the holiday home you intend to buy. Not all units are intended for occupation in severe weather conditions. If a caravan holiday home is used in cold months you should expect a higher level of condensation, both visible and unseen. Where central heating is provided, its primary purpose is to provide background heating in these cooler periods.
Q How do I drain my home down for the winter ?
A Download our drain down guide from the downloads page. It is always best practise to turn off the water at the stop-tap whenever the holiday home is to be left unattended overnight or longer, whatever the season.
